THE TENCH FRANCIS LEGACY SOCIETY

Tench Francis was appointed in February of 1795 by President George Washington as the nation’s first Purveyor of Public Supplies. This act established the U.S. Navy Supply Corps as one of the oldest staff corps in the Navy.

In order to honor Tench Francis as the founding officer of the Navy Supply Corps, the Tench Francis Legacy Society has been established by the Navy Supply Corps Foundation to recognize those members who have included the Foundation in their estate planning.

Please consider joining the ranks of those currently listed as members of the Society, and help support the mission of the Navy Supply Corps Foundation by planning a future gift to the Foundation.

Gift planning can include a bequest in your will or by participating in a gift annuity or other life-income tool.

If you have already taken steps to provide this type of support, please let us know as we would like to include you as a member of the Society. In addition, please complete the Bequest Intentions Form. Making a Bequeathment Request

Development Committee: Make a Promise to Future Generations

In the Summer issue of The Oakleaf, we included a brief article introducing CDR (ret) Mark Whitfield as the Foundation’s newest Tench Francis Society member and, as a financial advisor by profession, our new Tench Francis Legacy Society Advisor—counseling other interested Community members through the process of making a bequest to the Foundation. We are blessed to have had 34 generous members endow the Foundation with a portion of their estate for the benefit of future generations.

When many of us think of legacy support, we envision a wealthy philanthropist with substantial and complex holdings leaving a portion of their estate to enrich foundations and charities. While such legacy donations are gratefully welcomed, the beauty of the Foundation’s Tench Francis Legacy Society is the ease with which any member can designate and document a bequest of any amount to support the work of the Foundation in perpetuity.

You don’t have to be fabulously wealthy, and you need not have substantial and complex holdings to make a promise to support future generations… All that you need is the desire to help others. My wife and I completed our Tench Francis bequest this morning, over coffee… took about 10 minutes to do the paperwork! If you believe in the work of the Foundation and you want to continue to help future generations after your time passes, I simply ask you to consider designating a bequest to the Foundation.
